Canon is set post Avengers. Clint is overwhelmed with guilt and grief at what destruction his actions wrought upon the Hellicarrier. Agents died because of him, and worst of all, Phil Coulson, one of two people in the world he truly trusted and cared for was dead.
And mind control or not, that blame still lay with him. Clint is not the happy go lucky man he used to be, and not only that, he's been pulled off duty until they were certain he was completely free of Loki's control.
